Yirssi is an Afro-Dominican, queer, multicultural researcher, writer, and creator. Currently, she’s the Movement and Capacity Building Manager at Race Forward: The Center for Racial Justice Innovation, and was previously at Planned Parenthood of North Florida, and the ACLU. She volunteers with local organizations and has worked on issues such as saving the city budget for local libraries, and restoring the right to vote of disenfranchised voters. A VONA alum, on the writing front she has contributed to Colorlines, CNN iReport, and The Huffington Post among others. Born in the Dominican Republic, and raised in Spain, in her free time you will find her surfing, reading, or dreaming of a post-Covid traveling adventure.
