Joseph Haverlock brings a passion for cultural equity in the nonprofit sector to his position as Development Associate at Race Forward. Prior to joining Race Forward, he has had experience working on LGBTQ equity initiatives throughout the greater NYC area – including in the Center for Health Equity at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Rutgers University, and has a deep interest in the intersection between art and social change. He believes that the combination of the two can create an effective platform for community engagement in underrepresented groups. He has also taught for Rutgers University’s Office for Diversity and Academic Success in the Sciences (ODASIS), which seeks to increase the number of underrepresented students in STEM-related careers through academic support and coaching. In his free time, he likes to sing and play piano, having performed all over the country with various choirs. You can probably find him drinking cold brew and listening to a podcast.
